Prayer for Fear:
(Feel free to say each line and have your child repeat what you say or say it as you pray together.)
Dear God,
Dear God,
I’m so afraid that I won’t do good in school.
If (teacher’s name) ________ is teaching something new
please help me to understand and not give up.
When I wiggle too much and can’t focus please help me to think clearly.
Please help my teacher and parents to be patient with me.
Please send me the help I need to succeed.
Amen.

Go, Tell It on the Mountain
Hymn Background:
This is an African-American spiritual song compiled by American composer John Wesley Work Jr. dating back to 1865. It is considered a Christmas carol since the text celebrates the Nativity of Jesus. This story needed to be spread everywhere, shouted from the mountaintops.
African American civil rights leader Fannie Lou Hamer combined this song with the spiritual “Go Down Moses”. She used the Exodus story and “tell it on the mountain” to generate power in her civil rights work in the 1950’s.
LYRICS:
Chorus- Go, tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere;
Go, tell it on the mountain, that Jesus Christ is born!
1. While shepherds kept their watching o’er silent flocks by night,
Behold throughout the heavens there shown a holy light.
Chorus
2. The shepherds feared and trembled, when lo! Above the earth,
Rang out the angel chorus that hailed the Savior’s birth.
Chorus
3. Down in a lowly manger the humble Christ was born,
And God sent us salvation that blessed Christmas morn.
Chorus
Good Christian Men Rejoice
LYRICS
1. Good Christian friends rejoice with heart and soul and voice!
Listen now to what we say: News! News! Jesus Christ is born today.
Ox and ass before him bow, and he is in the manger now.
Christ is born today! Christ is born today!
2. Good Christian friends rejoice with heart and soul and voice!
Now you hear of endless bliss: Joy! Joy! Jesus Christ was born for this!
He has opened heaven’s door, and we are blest for evermore.
Christ was born for this! Christ was born for this!
3. Good Christian friends rejoice with heart and soul and voice!
Now you need not fear the grave: Peace! Peace! Jesus Christ was born to save!
Calls you one and calls you all, to gain the everlasting hall.
Christ was born to save! Christ was born to save!
